Adoptions, adoptions, adoptions!

Thanks to our PetSmart partnership and to Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, #Thanks to Maddie and #Maddie'sPetProjectNV, we placed more cats and kittens in their forever homes in 2018 than ever before.  Special thanks to Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation and Maddie's Fund for covering all adoption fees for Maddie's Pet Adoption Days, allowing us to find even more loving homes for our homeless cats.

We finished the year with 176 adoptions!

From our humble beginning in 2011 until the end of 2018 we have recorded 403 cat/kitten adoptions.

TNR - great progress being made!

2018 finished with a total of  309 cats in the Fernley, Silver Springs and surrounding areas being altered and returned to their familiar environment.

From 2011 to 2018 we have TNR'd a total of 1,267 feral cats!

This achievement is made possible by donations from YOU plus your family and friends.  If you know of someone who is feeding feral cats, or an area where there is an accumulation of feral cats, please let us know - we can and will help!

About Us

image255

  • We are a group of individuals that have come together for the common purpose of addressing and dealing with the very difficult reality of rapidly growing populations of abandoned and feral animals in our communities. This situation is worsened by the lack of ordinances within Lyon County and the various townships within the county that would allow Animal Control Services to deal more effectively with felines. Our targeted areas of operation are Fernley, Silver Springs, Stagecoach, Dayton in Lyon County, Wadsworth in Washoe County, and Lovelock in Pershing County.
  • We attempt to greatly increase public and civil awareness and sensitivity by creating informal partnerships or strategic alliances between ARGONN, the various city and county councils, and the community as a whole to begin to resolve this tragic situation. It is always our intention to accomplish this in a spirit of partnership and political agreement while avoiding antagonistic or inappropriate confrontation.
  • We believe in an aggressive TNR (trap, neuter, return) program for feral cats in addition to an effective ‘foster to adoption’ promotion for non-feral pets. This is being done in concert with community campaigns designed to encourage existing pet owners to spay or neuter each of their family pets. To assist us, we are extremely grateful to our local veterinarian clinics who provide low cost spay and neuter programs designed particularly for the abandoned and feral cat populations. We do not have a shelter facility and rely on foster families to raise kittens or take care of cats pending adoption.
  • We also provide a resource referral service designed to address individual situations affecting both feral and abandoned animals.  Our pet food distribution network helps to minimize the chance of any pet going hungry.
  • Our tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit status greatly enhances our efforts to develop partnerships and raise funds to achieve our objectives.
